Innovation Crossroads Cohort 2 Coming Soon[3][2][1][1].pdf

Invitation letter to attend Young Investigators Meeting – Chicago (YIM-C) 2017

Dear Sir/Madam,

The Science and Research Opportunities in India (Sci-ROI) organizing committee is honored to announce that we have started accepting registration for the 2nd annual ‘Sci-ROI Young Investigators Meeting – Chicago (YIM-C) for September 9-10, 2017.

Sci-ROI, is a volunteer run not-for-profit organization comprising of young Science and Technology scholars and professionals in the USA of South-East Asian origin (for more information please visit: www.sciroi.org). The objective of Sci-ROI is to establish a platform to promote multi-dimensional engagement between the young talented South-East Asian diaspora in the US and India. With this goal in mind, we organize events to (i) Explore career opportunities in India, (ii) Promote innovation through supporting entrepreneurship and thereby contributing to initiatives such as Make in India, (iii) Understand the rapidly evolving science, technology, and innovation landscape in Indian industry and academia, (iv) Interact with hiring managers, senior government representatives and experts from India, (v) Influence relevant policy issues, e.g., technology transfer, and, (vi) Increase awareness of direct and indirect collaborative initiatives between India and USA.

We are delighted to share with you that Sci-ROI YIM-C 2016 was organized successfully and it was a first of its kind in the Midwest USA. In fact, it differs from other YIM events in Boston, UK or Europe, in that it extended beyond biological sciences to include participants and speakers from all scientific and technological disciplines and it also brought in industrial and entrepreneurial partners. The event brought together nearly 150 students, post-doctorates and young scientists with the intention to work in India, who got an opportunity to interact with several eminent thought leaders and policy makers from industry, academia and the government. Detailed report of this event can be found on our website – www.winstepforward.org/yimc2016.

Sci-ROI YIM-C 2017 will be co-hosted by University of Chicago, Chicago from 9th to10th of September 2017. We invite you to consult www.sciroi.org for more information. We will be highly grateful to you and your institution if you can kindly share this message among the postdoc community which will hopefully reach the South-East Asian scientific, entrepreneurial, postdoctoral and pre-doctoral diaspora. We are confident that through participation in this event the graduate, postdoc and scientific community of South-East Asian origin will immensely benefit by networking with hiring managers.

Please email us at kovikiran or sghoshdastidar if you have any questions or concerns. We will highly appreciate if you can kindly spread the message among the research community comprising of the project scientists, research associates, postdoctoral associates and predoctoral candidates. We humbly request you to attach the outreach flyer when you send out the message Thanking you for your time and help for spreading this message.

Sincerely,

On behalf of SciROI

vphd monthly Search for your future

Versatile PhD Monthly Message

Hi there,

Paula Chambers here from Versatile PhD. I hope you are well.

This month I want to focus your attention on two extremely useful Search features on the site:

PhD Career Finder Search: The Career Finder has hundreds of real-life examples of PhDs who have successfully gone into great non-academic careers. You can search these examples by discipline, by career, and by jobs or roles. Tip: to see examples with resumes and cover letters included, search for “hired.” If you’re interested in examples of how a new career choice has worked out over time, run a search for “becomes.”

VPhD Member Power Search: Have you ever wished you could talk with a PhD working in a certain non-academic or non-faculty career? You can find them with Power Search. Use the options to narrow our 75,000+ members way down, then read their profiles to identify which ones you really want to talk to. You can reach out to them with a private message from their profile.

Have your VPhD username and password handy when you click on either of the links above.

The more you use the site, the more you will benefit!

Rooting for you,

Paula
